Happy Father’s Day 2014!
For those of you who enjoy a cocktail, be retro like Don Draper and drink an Old Fashioned this Father’s Day! This one includes green chile and uses tequila — to give it an extra little kick.
Tips: Use Don Julio Anejo tequila and canned whole green chiles from Hatch, New Mexico if you don’t have fresh, roasted, and peeled green chiles on hand — only New Mexican green chiles will do. If you can’t get your hands on any chiles in time, some jalapenos will substitute nicely!
Ingredients
-2 tsp. maple syrup
-2 slices of a green chile
-2 or 3 dashes of Angostura Bitters
-2 oz. Tequila
Garnish: orange slice or twist and a long green chile slice.
Method
In a tall glass, muddle the green chile slices, bitters, and maple syrup. Add the tequila and fill with ice. Gently stir with a spoon. Strain and pour over one large ice cube in an old fashioned glass and garnish.
Have a swell day, Daddio!
