If you use technology sparingly with your baby, you can use it at just the right time and it can truly save you from a disastrous baby-outing!

Just imagine being able to sit through a meal at a restaurant in peace. Imagine not fretting about travel! Imagine a doctor’s visit that is actually fun for your baby! It’s all more than possible with the right piece of technology placed in front of your baby, at the right volume, and at the right time.

Basically, anytime you need your baby to stop fidgeting or crying in a public spot — AND IF YOU HAVEN’T BEEN REALLY USING TECHNOLOGY ANY OTHER TIME — you will find one of these 4 tech-picks will nicely do the trick!

1. Watch a Baby Show or Movie on your phone:

Download PBS Kids Video App (or search YouTube if you’re in a hurry!) for all your baby’s favorite shows, including “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood,” “Sesame Street,” “Peg + Cat,” and “Super Why!” Prop up your iPad just out of your baby’s reach or prop up your iPhone against the sweetener container! Another great video app is Disney Movies Anywhere — just make sure that your device is charged!

2. Buy an InnoTab:

We really like the vtech InnoTab3. You can download videos onto it. And it comes with lots of goodies including some games, music, video recorder, and an art pad — plus it’s battery-operated so as long as you’ve got some spare batteries in your diaper bag (which you should always have!), you won’t get stuck with a dead tab and a disappointed baby!

2. Download some Baby Apps to your iPhone or iPad:

These can be educational too! Just be sure your baby doesn’t download some other apps by accident!

Download PBS Kids Apps (Free)

TONS of great apps here…

Download Toddler Flashcards on iTunes (Free)

3. Buy a Baby Phone:

There is a special kind of magic in a phone of your baby’s own.  And these are far less expensive than buying a baby laptop or converting your old iPad to the cause! Just keep the volume on low so as not to disturb your neighboring diners or travelers!
